Your children are looking for what to give to a friend or relative? Whether for the exchange of Christmas gifts at school, for grandparents' birthday or to offer to their teacher, they will love to tinker with gifts themselves or put their hands in the dough to offer a treat .
I had begun to draw up a list of ideas myself, and then I told myself that the best places to inspire the children were ... the children themselves! So it's my daughters who offer you this list of homemade gifts, thinking back to what they have enjoyed creating in recent years, or that they enjoyed receiving from their friends. You will see: there is really something for everyone!
1. A story of which his friend is the hero
Do you have a young writer who scribbles one story after another? Why not invite him to put a friend in a unique adventure? Those who like to sketch can even make a comic or an illustrated album. With a little more time to invest in the project, get out of the hardware and let the fertile imagination of your children do the rest. My youngest has already created a story where characters with velcro wandered from page to page ... A great success!
2. A home science kit
Have you ever fallen in love with one of these attractive science sets sold on educational toys? Once the nice box is open, we realize that we could easily have gathered all that was needed by making a visit to the grocery store, the pharmacy or the electronics store.
So it would be easy to build an ensemble by first finding an inspiring project (scientific sites like the Débrouillards are full of projects adapted to children, you can also visit my ticket on the feast of science for ideas tested at home) , to buy what it takes to make it (double, to test everything before offering!) and to put everything in a decorated box. Do not forget to follow the steps!
3. Bath products
Make bath products? It's very simple and really nice to offer. As you work with large quantities at a time, it also allows you to prepare several gifts at once. Perfect for extending the list of people to spoil and also think about the school principal, the bus driver, the best neighbor in the world ...
Among the must projects at home, there are the salt bath , the bath bombs , and sometimes the foaming candy bath . I also buy so-called "melt and for" soap bases (which can be melted in the microwave and then personalized by dyeing, perfuming and molding them).
4. Body products
It's no secret to anyone: small body products homemade are my personal hobby. I prepare less often than before, but as the holidays approach, I always brew some recipes. For a few years, we have been preparing everything as a family, so that children can spoil their friends as well.
The easiest project, with easy-to-find ingredients, and a perfect little gift: the glittering gel for the body .
Other ideas: a drizzle for the body (a mixture of distilled water and a few drops of fragrance, with Polysorbate 20 to make it all homogeneous) or a homemade body cream. You'll find several variations on the commons (such as this cream chocolate and spices , or rich mango hand cream ), all using the same basic technique for creams ... But to facilitate things with children, I now make a "lazy" version, heating all the ingredients at once and then stirring vigorously ... I'll put you a recipe soon!
Whether for body or bath products, I searched for sure fragrances to please children. After much research, I gave myself a set of samples in the Saffire Blue online shop: with names like Sweet Excitation, Strawberry Milkshake, Watermelon, Ginger Soda, Aquolina Pink Sugar, Chocolate, Lemon Zest and sugar cookies , admit that you can not really go wrong ;-)
5. Sweet treats
Small sweets obviously make wonderful gifts! As the holiday season approaches, it's a good time to bring out the best family recipe for cookies, muffins, cream sugar, brownies ... Our favorite? Salted caramel popcorn from my book !
As for the scientific gift, you can also offer the recipe as a kit to cook, by joining the ingredients in a glass jar. A hot chocolate mix seems like a safe option to please. If you are looking for a recipe, that of my friend Campagnonades has been tested and approved! For a holiday flavor, you could even put some crushed Christmas cane ...
6. Elastic gifts
The wave of "Loom Bands" has reached my suburbs like so many others. But what about all these elastics accumulated over the months? But gifts, of course! Trust your children to find tutorials on YouTube that will allow them to create not just bracelets and other colorful jewelery, but also animals and other creations.
7. A board game or skill
Snakes and ladders, memory game , ladies: several games can be easily tinkered and make nice gifts. A friend has already offered a ball course made from popsicle sticks stuck in a cardboard box: do I need to say that this is a precious memory that will have to be kept for centuries to come?
8. A coloring book or a creative journal
Offer creativity as a gift? We love! For their little cousin, my daughters have already prepared a coloring book with cute animals that they themselves drew with the marker on white paper. Connected with beautiful ribbons and offered with some coloring pencils, it had nothing to envy to expensive albums that could have been bought!
For a teacher at the end of the year, we adapted the concept by preparing a creative journal: pages with initial ideas, funny instructions and surprising challenges: "use your fingerprint to draw", "Draw an imaginary friend", "trace your hand and decorate it" ... With more hidden words, labyrinths and other small games patiently prepared.
In both cases, those who offered had as much pleasure as those who received, I am sure ...
9. A custom accessory
There is a wide selection of markers, pencils and fabric paints or other surfaces on the market that can be used to personalize a variety of objects to make unique works of art! Some ideas to explore: placemats for the whole family, a pillowcase with a nice message, a pajamas beautifully decorated, a personalized recycled bag, a kitchen apron, a set to lunch painted by hand ...
10. Puppets
Felt puppets also make great gifts. You do not have a sewing machine? Not serious. With the basics of sewing, complemented by a strong expertise in applying hot glue, we can easily create beautiful characters or even small doggies!
Children can also create puppets with spoons of wood, or simply on cardboard, on the back of which it will stick a sushi stick.
Do you have other ideas? What did your children offer to those around them, or did they meet with friends?
